She’s Back Ya’ll

Long time no blog! It’s been awhile, my sweet pretty little secret blog. (See what I did there... ;) ). I’m not planning on doing one of those cheesy update posts, but I will lay out the highlight reel. Since my last post I went on an amazing honeymoon to Europe, got a new job as a teacher, found out that I was pregnant and had a baby nine months later. It’s been a crazy two years. Now I am currently on summer break, sitting next to my beautiful sleeping baby, drinking a La Croix and writing this post while watching Dead to Me on Netflix (what a great show!). Yep, that’s about it. I plan on picking up my little hobby again, because I feel like if I don’t I am going to go into a stir crazy creative rut.

Anyways, I have a few posts planned and I want to journal this summer, so stay tuned! :)

Favorite Summer Candles

Alright, I am totally channeling my inner Jennifer Candle Vlogger for this post! (Snaps for you is you get that reference) Recently, John and I went on a shopping trip. We walked past the Bath and Body Works store and in the window there was a Semi-Annual Sale sign. That is when I blacked out and about an hour later came too with a bag full of summer candles. I can't be held accountable for my actions...You know when you went too crazy at B&BW when you leave with a large bag and the nifty little candle egg crate carriers thing at the bottom...

Any-whoo, today I am sharing my favorite summer candles. Summer scents are my favorite!! (Side note: For YEARS I have been on the search for a perfume that smells like suntan lotion, so if you have any recommendations, please share.) When it comes to candles, I love fresh green or fresh tropical scents. Pretty much anything with palm, coconut, green, grass, or leaves in the title. Bath and Body Works always does an amazing job with this, so I tend to stock up with a few at the beginning of the summer.

Palm Leaves & Mango

Fragrance Notes: Paradise Mango, Palm Fronds, Creamy Coconut Milk, Warm Island Woods

This candle is the perfect blend of fruity and fresh. I don't like when fruity scents are sickly sweet, so the lighter the better. This candle is the perfect example of a lighter fruity smell. It's very nice.

Sea Grass

Fragrance Notes: Sweet Island Sugarcane, Rustling Sea Grass, Sparkling Clear Water

I would say that this candle smells like more of a green island fresh as opposed to a fruity fresh. It has light sweet notes, but mostly you get that green smell. It's weird to say that something smells green, but it's totally a thing. If you like fresh scents, then you will know what I mean. :)

Beach Cabana

Fragrance Notes: Beachside Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Warm White Sands

First of all, can we just take a moment to appreciate that copper lid? There is something so satisfying about copper or rose-gold accents. I'm going to say that this candle smells like tropical musk. It's definitely got tropical notes, but it has more like an aftershave type smell if that makes sense... It reminds me of a tropical sandalwood kind of scent. I'm excited to see what this smells like when I burn it.

Tomato Vine

Fragrance Notes: Sun-kissed Tomato Leaves, Fresh Spring Greens, Hint of Lemon

This is one of my favorite scents ever. It is SO GOOD. Legit it smells like a veggie garden of like you were to walked into a garden, shoved your face into a tomato plant, and took a whiff. It is the freshest green smell and it is perfection. I am obsessed.

It is kind of difficult to describe scents, but I hope that you understood what I was trying to describe.

Have a lovely day!

February Favorites

Hello and welcome!

What better way to start a blog than with a monthly favorites post? The month of February was quick and productive. My fiancé and I are in the process of planning our wedding and this month we were able to check off a lot from our wedding planning checklist! We have two months left and I'm estressing out man! I feel like we still have a ton of things to do and I just want it all done. I've been told that this is normal and to just enjoy the process but unfortunately, my anxiety has yet to let me achieve that level of wedding planning zen. Stressful wedding planning aside, I have been enjoying our "Florida winter", or should I say lack of winter! The weather has been SO nice. Every now and then there is a part of me that misses the crisp cold air and beautiful silent snow falls. Then I remember the sheer terror that I felt anytime I had to drive in the snow, the 50 shades of gray that seem to last forever, and the seasonal depression that would rock my world due to a lack of vitamin D and those feelings fade. Yea, this "Florida winter" isn't so bad... :)

Alrighty, let's get down to business, shall we? Here are a few products that I have been LOVING this month.

L'Oreal AIR DRY IT Undone Style Cream & AIR DRY IT Ruffled Body Mousse

This stuff is FAN.TAS.TIC! My hair is thin thin, wavy, and frizzy. I also live in Florida which doesn't help with my frizz issues. When it comes to styling my hair, I am EXTREMELY low maintenance (AKA lazy AF). If I were to define my #hairgoals it would be that I would like to look like a boho chic homeless mermaid goddess with little to no effort. Basically, I am all about that undone look, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw these beauties at my local Targee. Snaps for L'Oreal because these products do exactly what they claim which is to...

"Create and control your perfect hairstyle without the heat damage. Enhance your hair's natural shape definition and texture. No residue left behind. This style cream adds softness, shine, and hold for an undone look without weighing hair down. Get beautiful, natural, effortless style. AIR DRY IT." -L'

I evenly distribute a little bit of both products (sometimes together and sometimes individually) on damp hair, scrunch it all up nice and good like, and then when I wake up in the morning I have defined waves. It's like magic. Plus I LOVE the way they smell!

Garnier Whole Blends Coconut Oil & Cocoa Butter Extracts Smoothing Oil

Due to my constant battle with the Florida frizz, I am always looking for a kick ass frizz magical frizz serum. I have really enjoyed using this little beauty in Feb. I wouldn't say that it's the miracle serum that I have been searching for, but it does do a pretty good job at taming my fluff. Also, it smells delicious. What can I say,  I'm a basic bitch who loves the smell of coconut! I like how it is very lightweight and I have found that it works well on both wet and dry hair. Snaps for you too Garnier.

Sally Hansen Color Therapy -Sheer Nirvana

February was all about the pinky nude nails for me. I am a sucker for rose gold and a pinky nude polish, so buying this lovely lady was inevitable. I have been a huge fan of Sally Hansen polishes for a while now because I love the formula. They  go on nicely, dry quickly, and last a decent amount of time. This new polish did not disappoint and the shade is gorgeous. I am not sure if the Argan Oil did anything to improve my nails, but I loved wearing the color.

ChapStick Total Hydration 3 in 1 Tinted Lip Balm  -Rose Petal & Coral Blush

I am a huge fan of the ChapStick Total Hydration Line. I literally own pretty much every flavor and I use them all of the time. It is really one of the only chapsticks that works for me. I have a constant problem with chapped lips. It doesn't matter how much water I drink or what time of year it is, I am always fighting chapped lips! Usually tinted lip balms just dry my lips out even more, but these beautiful babies do not. They are just as moisturizing as the untinted 3 in 1s that I love so much plus they have a good color payoff! I wear both shades constantly and I am planning on purchasing the Merlot in the near future. Now I warn you, the color isn't long lasting (which I never expect from a tinted lip balm), but that doesn't bother me because 1.They don't fade badly and 2. They are easy to reapply.

Dove Pampering Pistachio Cream Body Wash

I have loved the Dove body washes since about four years ago when I experience my first real winter in Cleveland and I thought that all of my skin would either peel or flake off because it was too dry. TMI? Well, it was gross and the struggle was real. The Dove Winter Care completly fixed my dry skin woes. Since then it is one of the only body washes that I will use. They have a lot of nice scents, but this one is by far my new favorite. It is the perfect blend of nutty, fresh, and floral. If they had this in a perfume, I would wear it every day.  I don't usually like pistachio, but that combined with the magnolia WORKS! Plus, it sounds silly but it feels SO luxurious! I actually look forward to using it everyday... don't judge me, I have no life right now.

Well that's it folks! What did you love using last month? Let me know if you have any hair serum recommendations! :)
